One conference, one standard of debate.
This famous quote of the great leader, I'm sure, resonates with all of us. History and the contemporary occurences are enough testimony to the power that this skill holds to shape and mould an idea into a concrete reality.
I feel a deep sense of fulfilment that we had, long back, decided to incorporate MUN into our curriculum. Today Maria's Model United Nations has shaped into a hallowed platform in the entire northeast.
I feel proud to find Marian delegations deliberating global issues at prestigious MUN conferences, including those hosted by Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, The Doon School in Dehradun, CHEMUN in Chennai, St. Columba’s School, Pathways World School, and Harvard MUN, besides they being well equipped and powerful to vouch for individual representations in MUNs all across the nation having been imbibed skills at home ground. Experiences gathered in these MUNs provide the students with exposure to critically invest their ideas upon issues provoking the world and to international diplomacy simulations.
I am particularly glad and excited to see the MUN fraternity at Maria’s extending its reach to our junior school students through Intra MMUN. This would help them hone their skills at an impressionable age together with paving their ways towards intellectual engagement and diplomatic discourses.
The world today expects the youth to be adaptive, to brave challenges lurking in inconspicuous areas, with good judgement and decision with a bright analytical mind. The MUN platforms are the perfect spaces to sharpen these skills besides honing their aptitude for meaningful dialogues.
As in the previous years, let's make this edition of MUN a vibrant forum of ideas, discussions and arguments where conflicts are examined, solutions explored, and young minds come together to challenge the the chimera of the world that tries to threaten the core values of humanity.
Best wishes.
The world we are living in has become increasingly complex, fractured, and volatile. We are bearing witness to shifting geopolitical fault lines—from escalating conflicts in the Middle East and the perilous tensions of the Iran–Israel–US matrix to sudden political upheavals like the violent ousting of heads of state. Emerging humanitarian crises such as the devastating outbreaks of Ebola threatening vulnerable populations across the DRC and South Sudan are making headlines leading to panic and anxiety.
Indeed the unpredictability of our times demands that diplomacy move beyond mere strategy and power play. It is imperative that our students learn to view international affairs through a profoundly humanitarian lens. As future leaders and global citizens, technical knowledge alone will not suffice; they must be equipped with empathy, critical inquiry, ethical conscience, and collaborative resolve. They must understand the human cost behind every policy, border dispute, and international sanction.
When Maria’s Public School pioneered the region’s first inter-school Model United Nations in 2015, our vision was to demystify diplomacy and introduce our young scholars to the art of global deliberation. Looking back at our journey since that inaugural session, fills me with immense pride to see how MMUN has grown into a vibrant crucible of intellect, empathy and leadership. Every edition surpasses the last, proving that when youth are given a voice, they rise to the occasion with remarkable maturity. I am proud of my organising team, students and faculty coordinators for their dedication and hard work, for looking into every detail to ensure seamless execution of the conference.
It is with immense pride and a profound sense of stewardship that I welcome you to the 10th Edition of Maria’s Model United Nations 2026.
As the first Model United Nations conference in the Northeast, Maria’s MUN has, over the years, grown into a conference defined by its legacy of discourse, diplomacy and intellectual engagement. Reaching our tenth edition is more than a milestone; it is a reminder of the responsibility we carry in preserving and building upon a legacy shaped by generations of delegates, Faculty Advisors, Executive Board members and Secretariat members.
Maria’s Model United Nations was established with the vision of nurturing public speaking, debating, critical thinking and effective communication among students from a young age. Over the years, this vision has evolved into a platform that encourages young minds to engage with diverse perspectives, articulate their ideas with confidence and develop the skills necessary to become thoughtful and effective leaders. As we commemorate a decade of Maria’s MUN, this founding vision remains at the heart of our conference.
As we enter this landmark edition, we have endeavoured to bring together thoughtfully curated committees, engaging agendas and a distinguished Executive Board panel comprising some of the most experienced and capable members of the MUN circuit. With years of experience and a commitment to excellence, our Executive Board panel will help create an environment that is intellectually rigorous, procedurally enriching and deeply rewarding.
This edition is being planned not merely to live up to the legacy of the conferences that have preceded it but to meaningfully contribute to that legacy and set a benchmark worthy of the milestone it represents. We aspire to create an experience that challenges delegates to think beyond the conventional, engage with substance and carry forward the values of diplomacy, discourse and leadership.
As we commemorate a decade of Maria’s MUN, we look forward to an edition that honours the journey behind us, celebrates the present and carries forward the legacy that lies ahead.
With that, I look forward to welcoming you to the 10th Edition of MARIA'S MODEL UNITED NATIONS and to witnessing the conversations, ideas and moments that will shape this landmark edition.
It is my profound privilege to welcome you to the tenth edition of the Maria's Model United Nations. Being one of the first institutions to embark on the beginning of Model United Nations in the North East region, our school has never failed to continue the legacy of excellence since 2016. Like our prior conferences, the tenth edition is set to be equally significant and exceptional. This conference will not only acknowledge your achievements but also serve as a platform where your ideas, perspectives, dialogues, and solutions are recognized and appreciated.
As part of the secretariat, I assure you that this experience will not just be about receiving accolades but will be part of your core memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. It won't be just about finding solutions but also about forging real connections.
I encourage every participant to engage wholeheartedly, debate respectfully, and approach every discussion with an open mind. May Maria’s Model United Nations 2026 serve as a space where ideas are exchanged, voices are heard, and diplomacy inspires action.
I wish all delegates the very best and look forward to witnessing an enriching and memorable conference.
